The BUSKI scholarship aims to acknowledge a senior year student in our chapter who consistently embodies our core values: brotherhood, unity, service, knowledge, and integrity. When awarding this honor, we assess how the recipient not only lives out these values but also contributes to our chapter's growth, both in any leadership roles they may hold and in their everyday actions beyond our business fraternity.
Potential recipients aren't just leaders within Alpha Kappa Psi; they also demonstrate the ability to apply the lessons learned within our chapter to other contexts, be it an internship, job, or involvement in other campus organizations. The BUSKI scholarship creates an opportunity for our chapter to express gratitude and recognize individuals who have played a crucial role in building, enhancing, and leaving a lasting impact on our organization.
Purpose for the Scholarship:
Ella Sharp
BUSKI Scholar 2024-2025
Ella Sharp is a senior IMC and Analytics Marketing major with a minor in Mass Media at Illinois State University and is the second BUSKI Scholar. She was initiated into our fraternity as a part of the Omega pledge class in the spring of 2022. With her time in chapter, Ella has shown what it means to live the values of brotherhood, unity, service, knowledge, and integrity through her leadership positions in and outside of chapter.
During her time in Alpha Kappa Psi, Ella has been a mentor for three mentees through teaching them soft skills needed for the business world as well as being a helping hand in their processes of becoming brothers in the fraternity. Beyond this role, she has always been someone for people in our fraternity as a professional and as a brother.
Ella has served several executive roles during her time in Alpha Kappa Psi at Illinois State. In Fall of 2022 she served her first VP role as the Vice President of Marketing, assisting with the chapters social media and print advertising. Secondly, in Fall of 2023 she served as the Vice President of Membership, overseeing the pledgeship of the Alpha Gamma and Alpha Delta pledge class.
Now, as a general member, Ella remains active in chapter decisions and has been someone to share ideas to help shape our chapter.
Outside of our chapter, Ella has been a Residential Assistant in Manchester Hall for three years, serving as the RA for the Rainbow Floor, a LGBTQ+ themed living learning community. Additionally, she currently serves as the president of the Student Leadership Advisory Board for the College of Business where she meets monthly with COB RSOs leaders as well as leaders throughout the college. Prior to being President, she served as the organizations secretary. Ongoing with that, she serves as the Secretary of the Assembly for the Student Government Association, and serves on the executive board. Other involvement she has had on campus include an Adobe Ambassadorship, on the Business Week Team, at Redbird Productions, and more.
For the past year she has also held an internship with Motorola Solutions as a Web & Digital Experience intern.
Ella’s outreach on campus has been expansive and has left an impact that spans far past our chapter. She was awarded the BUSKI Scholarship because she shows our chapter what it means to live our values everyday both in and outside of chapter.
Julia Perrone
BUSKI Scholar 2023-2024
Julia Perrone is a senior business administration major with a minor in economics at Illinois State University and is the first BUSKI Scholar. She was initiated into our fraternity as a part of the Psi pledge class in the fall of 2021. With her time in chapter, Julia has shown what it means to live the values of brotherhood, unity, service, knowledge, and integrity through her leadership positions in and outside of chapter.
During her time in Alpha Kappa Psi, Julia has been a mentor for three mentees through teaching them soft skills needed for the business world as well as being a helping hand in their processes of becoming brothers in the fraternity. Beyond this role, she has always been someone for people in our fraternity as a professional and as a brother.
Much of what Julia has done for Alpha Kappa Psi’s chapter at Illinois State has been behind the scenes through being the director of rituals in the Fall of 2022 and being the Risk Management Chair for the 2023 calendar year. Her role as director of rituals allowed brothers to learn from her on what it means to live the values of the fraternity. She did this through teaching the traditions of Alpha Kappa Psi to new brothers and reminding veteran brothers of what our traditions mean. In her position as risk management chair, she helped ensure the wellbeing of brothers in our chapter while setting the expectation that we live our core values.
As a general member, Julia has always been active in chapter decisions and has been someone to share ideas to help shape our chapter.
This upcoming semester, spring of 2024, Julia is going to take on her last position in the fraternity as one of our pledge educators where she will be guiding the Alpha Delta pledge class on becoming members of our chapter. We are looking forward to seeing how she helps guide the next generation of brothers through the pledge process.
Outside of our chapter, Julia has been a part of the pre-law club for her entire college experience, is a team lead at Illinois State’s Career Services and is a social media chair for the Student Environmental Action Coalition on campus. Additionally, she has held an internship for the past two summers with Bosch Rexroth and has worked part time for them this past semester.
Julia’s outreach on campus has been expansive and has left an impact that spans far past our chapter. She was awarded the BUSKI Scholarship because she shows our chapter what it means to live our values everyday both in and outside of chapter.
